New York, N.Y. (December 22, 2007) -- A new racing team based in the Big Apple will be bringing a New York flair to the 2008 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 as Gotham Competition will be formally introduced this weekend.

Gotham Competition is a new team formed in 2007 by brothers Jerome and Joe Jacalone who will be stepping up to the Rolex Series GT division after nearly 30 years of combined racing experience in SCCA and HSR. The team has purchased one of Porsche's new Grand-Am spec GT-3 race cars with the Jacalone brothers and Max Schmidt slated to drive. Sponsorship for the effort comes from go-gHP-Sport.com and Ocean Grove RV.

In typical snowbird fashion, the team will be utilizing two facilities during the 2008 season with a St. Augustine, Florida-based shop used for the beginning of the series and the Sag Harbor, N.Y. location in eastern Long Island taking over as the Rolex Series heads North during the summer months.

The team will be formally unveiled Saturday, December 22nd, in an event held at the St. Augustine Yacht Club. The first targeted race is next month's Rolex 24 At Daytona.
"Having been a spectator at the Rolex 24 At Daytona since the late '70's and an avid fan of the Rolex Series since its inception, I feel the Rolex GT class is where we need to be now," said team owner Jerome Jacalone.

Coming off a 2006 class win in HSR's group 9 along with his brother Joe's SARRC GT2 championship in SCCA driving a Porsche RSR, the team feels confident that the experience gained will be instrumental in their ascent to the professional ranks.

"We have been extremely busy over the last twelve months organizing the team and its strategy for the 2008 season and would like to thank Porsche Motorsports for all of their assistance," said team manager Joe Jacalone.
